We're a student team building a physics-based oil-spill attribution
prototype for India's Smart India Hackathon 2026 (problem statement
SIH26143, set by the National Technical Research Organisation).
Our token works well for vessel identity, AIS-off gap events and SAR
vessel detections — thank you for making those available. We're
requesting access to public-global-all-tracks.
Why: given a Sentinel-1 oil slick, we run a Lagrangian drift model
backwards to estimate where and when the oil was released, then replay
each candidate vessel's AIS track forward through the same ocean physics
and score the simulated slick against the observed one. The vessels that
cause these slicks are tankers and cargo ships, so public-global-fishing-
tracks doesn't cover them — we get 404 for our candidates and 403 for
all-tracks.
Scope: five named MMSIs over a ~48-hour window around one slick in the
Indian EEZ (Gulf of Kutch, 21 Aug 2025). Very low query volume, one
two-week project. Non-commercial, academic, and we credit GFW explicitly.
If all-tracks isn't granted at this tier, we'd be grateful to know what
is available for non-fishing vessels so we can plan around it.
