This is just a question more than a request. Is there a way of using the apparent fish effort hours to measure the efficiency of a fishing fleet? For example, ICCAT data gives us the amount of tuna reported caught within the ICCAT Area from ICCAT reporting parties in a given year. GFW data gives us the amount of apparent fish effort it took to catch the reported tuna. From those points I think we could solve that it took X amount of apparent fish effort hours to catch Y amount of tuna basically a Catch-per-Unit-Effort which is a measurement of fisheries sustainability and efficiency.
My problem is I am not sure the apparent fish effort hours is suitably to use in this calculation.
Do you think the data could be use for the calculation?
