Google Earth Integration
Justin Rizzari
I wanted to raise a recurring topic that frequently comes up during our trainings with various partners across the Pacific region. Many participants have expressed interest in the possibility of viewing Global Fishing Watch’s platform data in Google Earth, similar to the overlay functionality offered by Skylight (https://support.skylight.global/en_US/events/events-in-google-earth).
In addition, having the option to export heatmaps directly as KML files—alongside the current CSV and GeoJSON formats—would be extremely helpful. This functionality would significantly improve ease of use for many of our stakeholders who rely on Google Earth for their daily workflows.

Thanks Justin Rizzari - We're also exploring direct Google Earth Integration, so would it also resolve this request if partners could access the information directly there (i.e. no need to export from our platform and import to GE?) CC Gisela Morinigo

Matt Gummery - yes, I think if partners could access the information directly in Google Earth there would be no need for an export into our platform as I would expect that whatever is able to be viewed in GE could just be saved from there. I think one of the key components is having our heatmaps visible in GE as well as that has been well received when I have produced KML files of our heatmaps for partners.
